Tristania, the Norwegian gothic metal band, was created in 1996 by Morten Veland (vocals), Einar Moen (keyboard) and Kenneth Olsson (drums), the other members joining in 1997, when they recorded the album ''Widow’s Weeds''. This was the first of six studio albums, through which the band constantly diversified its musical style, without however giving up the classical music elements such as the flute, the violin, the organ or the harpsichord which go amazingly well the powerful voice of the lead singer. The band became very appreciated on an international level and it started to perform at a number of international festivals.
