After he counted itself amongst the finalists of Great Britain`s events industry`s Oscars - UK Festival Awards, BESTFEST 2009 gained another nomination, this time for the ''Best Medium Festival'' category within the prestigious European Festival Awards! A result of the collaboration between YOUROPE - the European Festivals Association, and Virtual Festivals - the online community for the festivals across the world, The European Festival Awards reward the activity and the endeavour of those involved in this year`s European festivals` setup, being an unprecedented mix between the festivals` fans` preferences and the objective opinions of the events industry`s specialists.
At its second successive year in the European Festival Awards competition, after the 2008 nomination for the ''Best European Festival'' category, BESTFEST is included this year in the ''Best Medium Festival'' category, the festival`s fans beng able to vote on the competition`s official website until December 10th, the date when there will be announced the names of the festivals qualified into the finals set up in Holland, in the early 2010. Other renowned festivals also participate alongside BČSTFEST in the same category, such as Creamfields (United Kingdom), Rock En Seine (France), Spirit of Burgas (Bulgaria), Provinssirock (Finland), Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) or Melt! Festival (Germany).
Split into two stages, the first part of the competition is going to take place on December 10th, as the fans can vote for their favourite festival on:
www.eu.virtualfestivals.com, being automatically enlisted in a contest that offers invitation for the winning festivals` next editions. Besides the ''Best Medium Sized Festival'' category, the European Festival Awards also include the ''Best Major / Small Festival'', the ''Best New Festival'' categories, which will be joined in the second part of the competition by the ''Best European Festival Line-Up'', the ''Best Artist Newcomer'', the ''Best Headline Artist'', but also by the "Anthem Of The Year'' category. The winners of thse new categories will be designated by a jury consisting from the the most important figures in the European live entertainment industry, the very same members also designating the winners of the ''YOUROPE Clean N'Green'', the "Artists` Favourite Festival'', the "Best Promoter of the Year'' awards and the ''Lifetime Achievement Award''.
The European Festival Awards' finals will take place on January 13th, 2010, within the opening ceremony for the 2010 Eurosonic Noorderslag conference, which is setup at The Grand Theatre in Groningen, Netherlands, and which will piece together organizers and promoters of more than 100 festivals, aside with the key figures within the European media and sponsorship industry.
At its third edition in 2009, BESTFEST is the only Romanian festival which, from its very first edition in 2007, is a YOUROPE active member, alongside some of the renowned European festivals: Nova Rock (Austria), Pukkelpop (Belgium), Roskilde (Denmark), Oxegen (Ireland), Lowlands (Netherlands), Exit (Serbia), Benicassim (Spain), Download (United Kingdom) or Rock'N Coke (Turkey).
