In the early 90s, MC Marten (Promoe), an 8th grade kid with long hair and big mouth, aside a school mate, DJ Mc Marshall (Embee), discovered a common passion for hip-hop. Aside DJ Mc Marshall and Mellow T (Cosmic), another kid from the hometown Vasteras (Sweden), Promoe set up Looptroop. A few years later, Promoe, Embee and Cosmic met Supreme, who at that time was a member of a hardcore band. After a studio visit with Looptroop, Supreme gave up other side projects and joined the band.
It`s been 17 years since Promoe and Embee took the first steps into the music industry, and 10 years since the birth of the band`s record label, David vs. Goliath. Even if the distribution and the promotion of their materials worldwide signified true obstacles for a small, independent label, Looptroop succeeded into gaining international appreciation and reaching their fans through spectacular live shows across all over the five continents. The Looptroop albums - “Modern Day City Symphony” (2000), “The Struggle Continues” (2002), “Fort Europa” (2005) and the recently released “Good Things” (2008) have been massively promoted by touring worldwide, propelling Looptroop as one of Europe`s most appreciated Hip-hop groups! Besides the Looptroop projects, Promoe also engaged himself in a solo career, his albums “Government Music” (2001), “Long distance runner” (2004) and “White Man`s Burden” (2006), enjoying massive impact within the hip-hop and reggae community all across the world.
In 2007, Cosmic announced that he is leaving the Looptroop crew, because of all the travelling and not being together with his family as much as he wanted to. After Cosmic left Looptroop, Promoe, Embee and Supreme changed the name of the group into Looptroop Rockers, and released the critically acclaimed “Good Things” album.
