STEREOPHONICS TO PERFORM AT B'ESTFEST! MISS PLATNUM AND DELUKA ALSO CONFIRMED!

After Nelly Furtado, Cypress Hill, Manu Chao, Kaiser Chiefs, Judas Priest, Manic Street Preachers, UNKLE, Apollo 440, Roisin Murphy (Moloko), Sunrise Avenue, Nouvelle Vague, Primal Fear and Ross The Boss, another three names are confirmed for B’ESTFEST 2008 line-up:

STEREOPHONICS, MISS PLATNUM and DELUKA!

STEREOPHONICS

Kelly Jones, Richard Jones and Stuard Cable started their career in UK, in 1992. They were originally known as Tragic Love Company, a name inspired by their favorite bands Tragically Hip, Mother Love Bone and Bad Company. They started out as a teenage cover band but in a few years they changed their style and also their name, becoming Stereophonics.

In August 1997, the band released their first studio album “Word Gets Around”, which reached #6 in the UK charts and was promoted by 5 singles. Two years later, Stereophonics received a Brit Award for the Best New Group. The next two albums “Performance and Cocktails” and “Just Enough Education to Perform” went directly to No. 1 in the UK charts, singles like “The Bartender and the Thief” and “Just Looking” being very well received by the public.

“You Gotta Go There to Come Back” is their fourth album, which was released in 2003 also the year when they lost their drummer, Stuart Cable. Soon he was replaced by present drummer Javier Weyler. Their fifth studio album, “Language. Sex. Violence. Other?”, was released in March 2005 and it marked their first recordings in their new band formula. The band achieved their first UK number 1 with “Dakota”, the first single from “Language. Sex. Violence. Other?”

After headlining international festivals like Pinkpop, Rock in Park/Rock am Ring, Oxegen, T in the Park and V Festival, this year Stereophonics will perform on 5^th of July at B’ESTFEST 2008.

MISS PLATNUM

Music fans will have the chance to see Ruth Renner, a.k.a. Miss Platnum , performing live on the B’ESTFEST scene on 4th of July. Ruth is originally from Banat, the western part of Romania, and she became famous in Europe by promoting a new music style called R’n’Balkan, a sort of R&B, pop and balkanic ethno music. Miss Platnum, so-called „Missy Elliot of the Balkans”, released her first album, „Chefa” in 2007. The material was very well promoted with the single „Give me the food”, where Ruth is using the Romanian language making fun of her weight. In a world where the “skinny” ones have always an advantage, Ruth is not afraid to admit that she likes to eat. In fact, Miss Platnum is a very well known representative of the „fat feminism” movement, which encourages the women to stop feeling so embarrassed by their fattish figure.

DELUKA

Composed by Ellie Innocenti, Kris Kovacs, Stevie Palmer and Daniel Brasco, Deluka is one of the most appreciated British bands from the underground circuit. This year, Deluka will be for the second time in Romania after headlining last year’s edition of UnderLondon Fest. Deluka will perform on 5th of July at B’ESTFEST.

Organized by Emag!c Entertainment, B’ESTFEST will take place on Romexpo Grounds, open air, on 4, 5, 6 and on 11 July - AFTERSHOCK. The artists confirmed so far are CYPRESS HILL, UNKLE, APOLLO 440, MISS PLATNUM (4 July), KAISER CHIEFS, MANIC STREET PREACHERS, STEREOPHONICS and NOUVELLE VAGUE (5 July), NELLY FURTADO, MANU CHAO, ROSIN MURPHY (MOLOKO) and SUNRISE AVENUE (6 July), and JUDAS PRIEST, PRIMAL FEAR and ROSS THE BOSS (11 July).
