MANU CHAO IS CONFIRMED!

MANU CHAO is the latest act confimed at B’ESTFEST 2008! He will perform in the third day of the festivl, on July 6th.

Manu Chao is a much appreciated French artist, known for his ability to combine several musical styles and languages as: French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and many more. Born in 1961, Manu (Jose-Manuel Thomas Arthur Chao), grow up around many artists and intellectuals, most of whom were his father's acquaintances. Chao cites much of his childhood experience as inspiration for some songs which have several influences like: rock, salsa, reggae, ska and rai.

Heavily influenced by the UK rock scene, but especially by his Latin roots, Manu together with his brother Antoine and their cousin Santiago, founded in 1987, the multiracial band Mano Negra. After five albums with Mano Negra, Manu decides to go on all by him self. In 1998 he’s starting his own project, called Manu Chao, with the release of his first solo album “Clandestino”. The disc had a major success and singles like “Bongo Bong”, “Mentira”, “Mama Call” topped the charts. “Clandestino”- a successful mixture of reggae, rock, rumba and brasilian rithms – is the album which made Manu Chao become a trade mark.

Chao's second album with Radio Bemba Sound System, "Próxima Estación: Esperanza", was released in 2001. The album was an instant hit, leading to a successful tour that resulted in the 2002 live album Radio Bemba Sound System. Two years later, Chao returned to his French roots with the French-only album "Sibérie m'était contée". Manu Chao's latest album, "La Radiolina", was released on September 17, 2007. "Rainin in Paradize" was the first single from the album.

daca vine Faithless si anu asta imi iau toata carnea din frigideru vostru. Anul trecut am slabit 1kg la prestatia lor, mai ceva ca 3 ore de sala. Anul asta in afara de Cypress sunt numai balarii ( my 0.2$ )

pfff...daca vine Faithless pup pamantul de la Romexpo si sar in sus strigand Emag!c Entertainment e super de 10 ori. Promit! E o problemuta insa, Faithless e in studio si scrie un nou album, nu se stie cand vor iesi in turneu.

Ah, super!! I've seen him back in the days with Mano Negra and later on as solo... Hopefully the weather will be cooler than last year, otherwise there will be loads of sweat around from all the dancing and ass-shaking!! :-) No Dragos, no....

No Steven, not because of that...but i think it fits better on saturday than sunday...i see that somehow is separation of styles among the 3 dayz...so...they don't belong to that kind of mainstream commercial soft pop like Furtado&Murphy or Sunrise

I'm shure that are enough people wanting to see&hear the forementioned artists...that's no problem..it's a matter of taste...like last year there were different crowds on Saturday at Pink ::))....(again wrong choice with Kasabian for opening) than friday and sunday.

Gabi, I don't know about taste, maybe you're right, but I remember how dangerous was last year when I was surrounded by fans of Wu-tang Clan and those of Marylin Manson&Alice Cooper in the same place&time...Me - a Faithless normal and nice fan:)

Well, I am sure that the organisators don't always can choose on what day they want to have an artist.
'You don't want our artist on Friday? Bad luck, because on Saturday he has to be on a plane towards the gig in somewhere'.
For example me myself am a huge Kasabian fan (great guys btw), but was surprised by the live act of Pink, who I didn't like at all.
Some times you need to be surprised in life :-)

Nothing bad happened last year, even with those fans you mentioned, i think it was rather peacefully :))...probablly like Steven said...it's a matter of the artist's schedule...but Manu will not be the main event (Furtado is..i think)...and i do not agree with this...and to pay only to see Manu...and then to leave after 1 hour...

Super, e genial! Poate vorbiti cu el sa-si aduca si suflatorii, ca la Sziget a venit fara ei si a sunat fain, rock, dar cu suflatori e mult mai tare, vezi Radio Bemba.

Manu Chao sunt super tari. Am fost la concert anul trecut si pot sa spun ca "ROCKS!". Am zis ca la 30 de ani ai mei am sa stau mai deoparte si sa ascult. Am putut? Am sarit 3 ore in continu! Curgeau apele de pe mine. Super fain!

da, da, da, de 3 ori da. daca numai pt cypress hill eram in stare sa vin in maini pana in Buc, daca mai este si Manu Chao e suficient de clar ca o sa vin. Sper sa nu mai fie asa de cald ca anul trecut, cand si la B'estival si la Coke Live au fost 40 de grade in ambele zile.

hey Steven if you have some problems with the plane or at the Otopeni airport I could come and take you from the airport - the same with the hotel if you have some problems, I have one very near the Romexpo Festival Stage 2008, you'll feel very well with a nice B@B ...tell me, please, when you are coming, the days and if you came all the 3 days of the festival ...I do love Manu Chao, Nelly Furtado, Nouvelle Vague, Roisin' Murphy a lot ....but I don't know if Bon Jovi will come at last on July 11 or 12 in Romania ...I really don't know that!

Din pacate duminica o sa vin numai pentru Roisin (eventual si Manu Chao). Nu stiu de ce au pus-o pe Furtado cu cei doi duminica. Ciudata combinatia. Electro-jazz-disco-ul lui Roisin sau Manu Chao nu prea se pupa cu r&b-ul lui Furtado.
