FIRST HEADLINERS CONFIRMED FOR B'ESTFEST 2008!
KAISER CHIEFS AND ROISIN MURPHY (MOLOKO) LIVE IN BUCHAREST!

Posted by B'ESTFEST on 27 february 2008, 23:59

The first two headliners confirmed for B’ESTFEST 2008 are KAISER CHIEFS and ROISIN MURPHY, the voice of MOLOKO.

Produced by Emag!c Entertainment, B’ESTFEST 2008 will take place on 4, 5 and 6 July, open air, on Romexpo grounds.

KAISER CHIEFS
Named after a South African football team, Kaiser Chiefs (Ricky Wilson - vocal, Andrew 'Whitey' White - guitar, Simon Rix - bass, Nick 'Peanut' Baines - keyboards and Nick Hodgson - drums, vocal) was born in Leeds, UK, in 2003. Their debut album, ''Employment'', released in March 2005, was primarily inspired by new wave and punk rock music of late 1970's. The singles ''Oh My God'', ''Everyday I Love You Less and Less'', ''Modern Way'' brought them the second position in the the UK Album Chart and also a place on the shortlist for the Mercury Prize.

In 2007, Kaiser Chiefs released their second album, ''Yours Truly, Angry Mob'', which easily reached the No. 1 position in the UK charts. The first single,''Ruby'' enjoyed massive success worldwide, being the first Kaiser Chiefs song to top the charts right from the release! “Ruby” was followed by "Everything Is Average Nowadays", "The Angry Mob" and "Love's Not a Competition (But I'm Winning)", released at the end of last year.

After headlining the most important festivals of Europe and US in the past years (Glastonbury, Werchter, Lowlands, Reading & Leeds, Rock Am Ring, Roskilde, Lollapalozza and Coachella), this summer Kaiser Chiefs will perform at Hurricane and Southside Festivals in Germany, T In The Park, UK and Oxegen from Irlanda, and, of course, B’ESTFEST 2008, in Bucharest, Romania.

ROISIN MURPHY (MOLOKO)
Dublin-born singer Róisín Murphy started her career when she met producer Mark Brydon, with whom she formed the eclectic electronic pop duo Moloko. The pair's trip-hop and funk influenced electro sound scored them several hits, including "Sing It Back", "The Time Is Now" and "Fun for Me". After completing the tour supporting Moloko's fourth album, 2002's “Statues”, Roisin Murphy embarked on a solo career.

In 2005, she released her solo debut album “Ruby Blue”. Her sophomore album, “Overpowered”, followed in 2007, and featured productions by Bugz in the Attic and Groove Armada members ("Let Me Know" with Groove Armada was the second single of the album).

Along B’ESTFEST, this summer Roisin Murphy will also headline Werchter (Belgium), Benicassim (Spain), Rock Am Ring / Rock Im Park (Germany), Pinkpop (The Netherlands) and Sonar (Spain).

More details regarding B’ESTFEST 2008 festival line-up and tickets will follow over the next days.
