Known for their intelligent and often political lyrics, Manic Street Preachers -"Manics" for most of the fans - gained mainstream popularity in the UK in the late 1990s. Their debut album, ‘Generation Terrorists', released in 1992, was very well received in Europe and Asia. Although during the early part of their career they were regarded as a punk rock band, their music is now often generally regarded as alternative rock, due to changes in their sound. Manic Street Preachers released another seven albums, ‘Everything Must Go' being their best selling album but also the most awarded. In May 2007, they released ‘Send Away the Tiger'.
