In December 2006, after only one year marriage, Marilyn Manson and Dita Von Teese announced their separation. Dita is the one who filed for divorce, justifying that her husband “refused o become more adult, more responsible”, allusion to rocker's frequent misconducts. Apparently, Manson was so affected by the parting that he had almost quit music.
“I didn't have an interest doing it anymore because I felt completely unfulfilled, uninterested. I just didn't really feel inspired to do it and then I sunk into a weird black hole and I lost an identity, like I didn't know who I was, because I've always identified myself personally by what I do and my greatest fear has always been not being able to create and I almost got to that point.”
The artist declared that he couldn't overcome the depression until a close friend provoked him to stab her: “She picked up a butcher's knife and said, 'Here, you can stab me!' When someone was willing to drown with me, I really didn't want to drown anymore.”
After this, Marilyn Manson forced himself to restart writting, and so, the album “Eat me, drink me” was born. The artist says this record is “the most autobiographic; it's about trying to find a conexion with the world outside. I was writing out of desperation and hope. It came out in a rush — like an open wound — and I went with it.”
The first single will be “Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand)”, which will have a 3D video, inspired by the horror movie “Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll”.
“Eat me, drink me” will be released on the 5th of July, and the fans will have the opportunity to listen live the songs on this album at B'ESTIVAL 2007, which will take place between 29th of June and 1st of July, at Romexpo. Marilyn Manson will sing on the last day of festival, together with Neo, Zdob si Zdub, Gabriel Rios, Chicks On Speed, Wu-Tang Clan and Alice Cooper. |
